AVA’s responsibilities included:

Project Management, Field Inspection Services, Reporting, and Database Creation


Projects included inspection of heavy rail and light rail transit facilities to verify the structural integrity of operating and non-operating segment rail structures, trackways, parking structures, intermodal facilities, maintenance shops and storage facilities, underground and overhead structures, passenger stations, train and yard control facilities, central controls and communications facilities, and transmission support structures, including steel bridges and reinforced concrete bridges. All structures were meticulously inspected during rail operation and non-operation hours during the daytime and nighttime.  Detailed inspection findings were used to create a database for remedial action and deficiency removal.  This is a PUC requirement that mandates LACMTA to perform periodic inspections to ensure structural soundness for safe operations.


All tunnels underground stations, overhead guideway structures, bridges, and at-grade line segments for eleven (11) miles of Metro’s                              Red Line Heavy Rail, twenty-two (22) miles of  Blue Line Light Rail, and twenty (20) miles of Green Line Light Rail.
