Client: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA)
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Completion Date: 2008
In-service Structural, and Safety Inspection Services for LACMTA’s heavy and light rail transit facilities. LACMTA’s transit facilities include four major public rail lines across Los Angeles County (Red Line, Blue Line, Green Line, and Gold Line).
Scope of work included the structural inspection, evaluation, and reporting of all underground and above ground railroad structures including cut-and-cover concrete box and circular tunnels, underground stations, and aerial stations with canopies, retaining walls, pedestrian overpass bridges, aerial structures, and steel and reinforced concrete bridges.
All structures and related elements were visually inspected during rail operation and non-operation hours during the daytime for above-ground facilities and night time for below-grade facilities. Observations and findings were professionally documented and detailed structural observation/structural defect reports were generated to update the previously generated database. This is a PUC requirement that requires agencies (LACMTA) to retain such services periodically to assure the quality and safety of the transit system.
All underground tunnels, stations, cut-and-cover structures, track system and rail support, pedestrian bridges, and railroad bridges and overpasses for 17.4 miles of Red Line, 22 miles of Blue Line, 20 miles of Green Line, and 13.7 miles of Gold Line.
