The Brea Canyon Road grade separation project required Brea Canyon Road to be lowered beneath the existing railroad tracks with a railroad bridge constructed to carry trains over the roadway. Portions of Washington Street and Currier Road were lowered at their intersections with Brea Canyon Road. The newly configured Brea Canyon Road includes several pedestrian and motorist safety improvements, such as walkways with protective railing.
