Vista Canyon Multimodal Center
The Vista Canyon Multimodal Center
The Vista Canyon Multimodal Center serves as a key transit anchor for the master-planned community of Vista Canyon in Santa Clarita. Designed to support a transit-oriented lifestyle, the center includes a commuter rail station, bus transit hub, and connections to adjacent residential, office, and retail spaces. The design reflects the area’s historic significance as one of California’s first gold discovery sites, incorporating gold strike and rustic California themes. Decorative features such as strata walls, shovel-shaped canopies, and enhanced paving bring the vision to life. The project also upgrades a single through-track to a double-track system with a center platform accessed via ramps, stairs, and a pedestrian underpass. Sustainability is integral to the station, which integrates trail systems, sustainable landscaping, and advanced design elements to achieve Sustainable SITES certification.
Innovation in Sustainable Transit Design
Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) led the architectural, landscape, and engineering design for this multimodal center, ensuring it aligned with the character of Vista Canyon’s master-planned community. As the sustainability compliance lead, AVA incorporated eco-friendly materials, efficient grading and lighting, and advanced plumbing and electrical systems into the design. By collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) and Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), AVA ensured the seamless integration of the center into existing and future transit networks. The team’s comprehensive role spanned from architectural and landscape detailing to preparation for Sustainable SITES certification, exemplifying AVA’s expertise in forward-thinking, transit-oriented projects.
