Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension – Berryessa Transit Center
SVBX Project Overview
The Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension (SVBX) Phase I project marks a significant ten (10 mile) expansion of the operational BART Heavy Rail System, linking Fremont’s Warm Springs station to San Jose’s Berryessa. Led by AVA as the Architect of Record (AOR), Landscape Architect (LAOR) and Engineer of Record (EOR), this Design-Build endeavor includes multimodal Milpitas Station and Berryessa Station, alongside essential infrastructure like Bus Transit Centers, BART Transit Facilities and Parking Structures. AVA’s role encompassed comprehensive planning, design, and construction administration support in areas such as Architecture, Landscape Design, Structural, and Electrical Engineering. The AVA Team collaborated closely with the joint venture Design-Build Team to deliver final design documents and ensure seamless execution throughout the project’s duration.
SVBX Berryessa Aerial Station
The Berryessa Aerial Station is situated on a 52-acre campus adjacent to San Jose’s Flea Market, features a street-level concourse with a center-boarding passenger platform elevated 35 feet above ground. Additional facilities include the End-of-Line Facility, a Bus Transit Center, Parking Structure, and Kiss n’ Ride Facilities and the restoration of the Upper Penitencia Creek (a tributary of Coyote Creek), all integrated seamlessly into the station’s layout and operations. AVA Team designed and supported the project through its entirety, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of the 52-acre Berryessa Station campus, during the construction phase.
