The Goleta Train Depot project transforms the city’s transit infrastructure into an iconic commuter rail hub. Designed to serve the existing AMTRAK platform along the LOSSAN corridor, the project includes a modern depot building, parking facilities, and multimodal transit accommodations for buses, bicycles, and vanpools. The depot features a café, ticketing area, waiting room, community space, and facilities for bike and baggage storage, all designed to enhance passenger experience and community engagement. The project also includes roadway improvements along South La Patera Lane, integrating bike lanes, sidewalks, and sustainable landscaping to create a welcoming gateway to Goleta. Public art is incorporated into both the interior and exterior spaces of the depot, further enriching the site’s cultural value.
Leadership and Expertise in Action
Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) spearheaded this ambitious project as the prime consultant and project manager, delivering comprehensive solutions from conceptual design to construction documentation. AVA’s multidisciplinary approach encompassed station architecture, lighting, signage, and landscape design, while also providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering expertise. The team collaborated with sub-consultants for geotechnical, structural, and civil engineering work and coordinated with key stakeholders, including representatives from the LOSSAN Corridor. AVA ensured seamless project execution while adhering to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, integrating sustainable practices and environmental considerations throughout. Their leadership resulted in a transit hub that balances functionality, sustainability, and community engagement.
