1980
Anil Verma begins his career with the Los Angeles Downtown People Mover Project, sparking his interest in transit design.
1982
Joins the Los Angeles Metro Red Line Heavy Rail Project, working on complex underground station designs.
1984
Appointed Project Manager for Metro Red Line Segment 2, overseeing a 5-mile alignment through Wilshire Fairfax, Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard.
1986
Anil Verma strikes out on his own as an independent consultant, successfully procuring assignments from projects as a subconsultant, land developers and transit agencies. He also wins his first construction management on the Los Angeles to Long Beach Light Rail project with a $990 million construction cost.
1989
Establishes his own consulting firm, specializing in transit station planning, design, and management.
1992
Invited to present at the ASCE International Conference on High-Speed Ground Transportation Systems, Orlando, FL. He was one of the 3 keynote speakers in the conference.
1993
Develops the LA Metro Transit System Planning Guidebook, detailing heavy rail and light rail system guidelines.
1995
Wins AIA Honor Award for the design of the San Clemente Metrolink Commuter Rail Station, recognized for environmentally sensitive design, created in the proximity of the sunny and sandy beaches of Southern California.
1996
Presents at CODATU VII Conference organize by the French Government in New Delhi on the Aesthetics and Passenger Experience of Rail Transit Systems in urban environment.
2001
Awarded the Puget Sound Vision 2020 Award for Auburn Commuter Rail Station and Transit Center in Washington State selected by the mayors of all local cities, as the best project in the region.
2003
Leads design of the Rio Piedras Underground Heavy Rail Station in Puerto Rico, a landmark Design-Build project, sponsored by Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
2004
Presents at APTA Rail Transit Conference on “Building Heavy Rail Systems in Congested Urban Environments”.
2006
Speaks at the AIA National Convention in “Los Angeles Transit Systems and the following Transit Oriented Development (TOD)”.
2010
Receives CMAA Project Achievement Award for Sustainability for the development of the Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) campus, Los Angeles.
2011
Honored by WTS LA Chapter for his “25-Year Career and Overcoming Challenges in word of Transit Project Management.
2013
Receives the South Asian Biz Award, recognizing his Leadership and Perseverance in the Transit Industry.
2014
Recognized by Women in Transportation (WTS) as the “Renaissance Man by Design” for national contributions to transit in America. View more >

Wins “Infrastructure International – Year in Infrastructure Award” for excellence in transit station design and innovation, in the London conference, London, UK.
2019
Receives “Infrastructure International – Year in Infrastructure Award” for excellence in design of Stations & City Building in the conference in Singapore.
2020
Leads multiple high-profile projects in California, including the Silicon Valley BART Extension and California High-Speed Rail, Honolulu’s Automated Rail Stations on the “Kamehameha Stions Group”.
2023
Continues to influence urban design globally through innovative mass transit solutions and community-centered design, especially with the opening of LA Metro’s Regional Connector Project, where his firm was responsible for all three deep underground rail stations.
