Moynihan Train Hall Project @ The Farley Building, NYC

Upgrading the Historic Post Office

AVA as a subconsultant to a Project Management team, was responsible for reviewing contracts, processing Requests for Information, managing Change Control (change document preparation, coordination for finalization and issuance of change package and tracking, maintain change control log and develop related reports), maintaining correspondence log and developing required responses. AVA also managed Cost Control tracking (actual/planned costs), produced cost related metrics and developed monthly progress reports.

The Moynihan Train Hall

The Moynihan Train Hall project, -led by Empire State Development Corporation, Moynihan Station Development Corporation, New York Economic Development Agency, in partnership with the MTA, Amtrak, joint venture of The Related Companies and Vornado Realty Trust, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey-, will transform the landmark James A. Farley Post Office Building into a 255,000 square foot, 21st century transportation hub. The Train Hall will support increased passenger circulation, provide a new 92-foot-high sky-lit train hall, state-of-the-art wayfinding, expanded ADA compliance features, improved life safety features, information displays, and amenities to improve the visitor experience. The Train Hall will serve Amtrak passengers, provide access for MTA’s LIRR and subway passengers and act as a thoroughfare for numerous pedestrians. The Moynihan Train Hall, when complete, will provide a much-needed expansion of the Penn Station complex across 8th Avenue by creating 50% more concourse space and new convenient vertical access from the Farley Building to 17 of the 21 existing LIRR train tracks that run below it. The Train Hall will welcome passengers taking more than 650,000 daily commuter, transit and intercity trips on Amtrak, NJ TRANSIT, Long Island Rail Road and the subway. With an additional 200 million people passing through New York Penn Station annually, it is the busiest train station in the U.S.
