Project Description
The Sacramento Intermodal Transportation Center is a dynamic facility that will be a vital hub to the regional ground transportation network, and will ultimately support a thriving commercial, retail, and residential development and recreational and entertainment facilities. The project involves integrating the historic rail depot and related structures into a modern multi-modal facility. It will incorporate numerous transit modes, including: Amtrak, the CCJPA Capitol Corridor Commuter and San Joaquin Corridor Lines, Light Rail Transit, Amtrak and Greyhound regional buses, Regional Transit buses, Union Pacific freight traffic, and possibly future inner- and intra-state High Speed Rail. The entire development was designed in the context of the old historic railroad report, and the development of a historic railroad depot.On-site, local, and regional transportation issues are all included. The planning process involved close coordination with a large number of transit agencies and stakeholders. The project included extensive, ongoing community and other stakeholders involvement through a series of on-going community workshops and presentations to various City departments.
